12 Crazy Comic Book Movie Rumours That Thankfully Never Happened

8. A He-Man Sequel AND Menahem Golan's Spider-Man Movie

Where to start with this... Cannon Films were a very prominent studio in the 1980s. They began life as a small film distributor in the late 1960s and were purchased in 1979 by cousins Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus. The pair had a very strange vision in which they would purchase scripts galore for a small price and make loads of low-budget movies - with the view that, even if seven out of ten of them failed, the three that succeeded would make enough money to pay for all of the others. Rumour has it that they set about making a sequel to 1987's Cannon movie Masters of the Universe in conjunction with a Spider-Man movie. The projects both collapsed however - largely, in the case of the Spider-Man movie, due to the fact that they knew nothing about Spider-Man and intended to make it in to a weird monster movie - and through bizarre circumstances, those two films instead became 1989€™s Cyborg, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme (seriously). Had a Spider-Man movie been made under the control of these men who were completely ignorant of the source material, it would have been horrific.
