What The Critics Said: The press tripped over themselves to praise Christopher Plummer for his last-minute, Kevin Spacey-replacing performance in Ridley Scott's thriller, to the extent that Plummer even managed to snag an Oscar nomination for his work.

More broadly, Michelle Williams' performance and Scott's direction were acclaimed for delivering a compelling summation of a fascinating true crime story.

Why It Actually Sucked: Were it not for the Kevin Spacey controversy, would anyone have been talking about All the Money in the World more than a week after it released back in January?

Plummer does undeniably impressive work under the enormous time constraints, and the fact the film's not a total mess is nothing short of miraculous, but when viewed on its own terms, it just feels a little flat.

The engrossing strangeness of the story is given a disappointingly ordinary treatment here by Scott, who makes it a weirdly by-the-numbers thriller largely undeserving of its talented cast and crew.
