12 Deleted Movie Scenes With WAY Better Answers

2. Die Hard - Synchronised Terrorist Watches

Now we come to one of the finest action blockbusters ever produced; John McTiernan's Die Hard arrived in 1988 to massive audience recognition. For the most part, it's a near perfectly paced and intense thrill ride as John McClaine (Bruce Willis) takes on a band of crooks with whatever resources he can find.

One set of cut footage raises a few eyebrows however. The deleted shots can be broken down into three sections; first is when Hans Gruber and his team of thieves arrive in the van.

They synchronise their watches before heading up in the lift. This shows their intensely effective planning; further on when John McClaine kills the first thief, he debates whether to take the villain's watch.

Later in the film, when McClaine and Gruber come face to face for the first time, the cop notices the mastermind's watch and realises he is one of the terrorists. In the final film, viewers mainly chalk it up to John's police intuition in recognising a criminal.

These shots had to be cut as the there was no ambulance shown in the first shot of Gruber and his men, which they plan to use as an escape vehicle. Die Hard's brand of action remains a masterclass, but this little addition adds an extra dynamic to both the protaganist and the enemies he faces.
