12 Dire Plot Twists From Recent Hollywood Films

3. Mark Ruffalo Did It - Now You See Me

Now You See Me, a terrible thriller about a group of magicians (Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher and Dave Franco) who are carrying out bank robberies and are being pursued by FBI agent Dylan Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo), is a film built around hit-or-miss plot twists. It saved the very worst one for last though: Dylan Rhodes is the mastermind behind the heist.

The good news? Unlike almost every other twist on this list so far, it's very likely that no-one saw it coming. The bad news? The reason no-one saw it coming was that it's a completely bulls**t twist. There was no way Rhodes could've been the mastermind behind the heists.

How did Rhodes mastermind such a complicated series of heists while also pursuing the people doing them? How did this magician/criminal rise through the FBI? In fact, how did he oversee this whole scheme without his own agency knowing?

It also negates the entire film since the guy who we all assumed was chasing the magicians was never actually trying to catch them.

As for his motivation, Rhodes was using the heists to get revenge on various people he feels were responsible for his father's death. Wasn't there a less convoluted way to get revenge?
