Canadian body horror hero/ Rick and Morty shout out David Cronenberg has built a long career from contorting the human form into horrific (mis-)shapes, but a lot of his superior cinematic efforts demand at least one repeat visit despite their chilling imagery.

After all, The Fly features Jeff Goldblum’s best performance beneath its sticky prosthetics and The Brood boasts a stellar turn from Oliver Reed which makes it re-watchable despite, you know, the whole killer kids and external womb-sac thing.

So, it’s the early effort Shivers, a gruesome parasite-based zombie horror from 1975, which makes this list. The film’s limited scope and the comparatively amateurish acting make a re-watch unnecessary, but this gory ordeal is nonetheless a requisite primer for the helmer’s later, superior sci-fi horror experiments.
