12 Dumbest Movie Plot Twists Of 2019

3. The Daughter Dies (And The Trailers Spoiled It) - Pet Sematary

Last year's Pet Sematary remake was basically fine enough, and on paper one of its more intriguing decisions was to have the Creed family's daughter Ellie (Jeté Laurence) die rather than the son Gage (Hugo and Lucas Lavoie), as happens in both Stephen King's novel and the original 1989 film.

It's a decision that actually made a certain amount of sense: killing off the older daughter only to have her father (Jason Clarke) resurrect her via the cemetery would allow a more expressive, talkative undead child character, rather than the mute, younger Gage from the prior versions.

But any potential "wow" factor this twist might've had was ruined by the movie's trailers flat-out spoiling the change. Just imagine how neat it would've been to have the rug pulled out without knowing Ellie was going to die ahead of time.

Instead, it was given away for free in the marketing, severely blunting its impact in the process.
