12 Embarrassing Early Film Roles Actors Need You To Forget

4. Ben Affleck - Mallrats

Ben Affleck Mallrats Ben Affleck (the Bat that will be) has made good films, along the lines of Good Will Hunting and very very bad films, like Pearl Harbour (we're still not sure how the Americans managed to make that film look like they won that battle.) Mallrats, from 1995, is somewhere quite in-between. As the prequel to the fantastic Clerks of 1994, Mallrats had large shoes to fill before a single frame had been committed to celluloid. Unfortunately, those shoes it did not fill at all after costing a reported $6 million to make, and taking only $2.1 million in the box office. Decent acting from a large ensemble cast and appearances from all our favourite characters like Jay and Silent Bob help make the film a worthwhile watch now, but at the time Ben Affleck's pull as Shannon Hamilton couldn't draw the crowds. It is almost certain that the next Batman will face the same fate, leaving cinemas around the country empty (as if.) The film seems to have been quite a good move for Affleck however, as he has appeared in almost every single Kevin Smith film since, with the notable exception of Zack And Miri Make A Porno. Even friends in high places often won't get us to have sex with Seth Rogen either. Did we mention that Stan Lee also cameo'd in Mallrats? Stan Lee. In Mallrats. The world has gone mad...
