Given how much money huge actors are generally paid for appearing in movies, you'd think they'd be keen to get their faces seen as much as possible. Alongside that, you'd also be forgiven for thinking that they'd want EVERYONE to know when they'd been cast in a movie, since they have a vested interest in pushing their brands and making sure they remains as famous as possible.

It's their livelihoods we're talking about here, after all.

But actors also clearly believe in the almighty magic of cinema and how valuable it can be to a film for there to be little trinkets, Easter Eggs and hidden secrets that fans will discover and talk about long after the films themselves. Because a surprising number of them are willing to give up their credits altogether for the sake of playing hide and seek with the audience.

You'd be amazed how willing giant stars can be to NOT shout about being in movies...

When you're Steven Spielberg, you can pretty much call on anyone you like to be in your movies and they'll thank you for the opportunity. That's why he was able to get fellow directors Cameron Crowe and Paul Thomas Anderson to appear as train passengers.

They appear in the thrilling escape sequence that sees Tom Cruise's John Anderton evade police, but even more notable is the passenger sitting directly behind Crowe as he reads his newspaper. That blonde head belongs to Cameron Diaz, half of whose face is on screen for a matter of seconds.

That's got to be one of the highest ratios of fame to amount of face shown in any film.
