12 Film Cameos That Were Cut From Theatrical Release

4. Liam Neeson €“ The Hangover Part 2

CA.0822.taken. The Hangover Part 2 was the sequel to breakout comedy The Hangover, which was released to critical and commercial acclaimed back in 2009, thanks to its comedic edge and a feeling of freshness among the many so called €œcomedies€. The sequel, set in Thailand featured a scene in a tattoo parlour where the trio were set to encounter Mel Gibson. A sense of unease and an apparent mutiny from cast and crew about Gibson€™s presence led to Liam Neeson being drafted into the role. Sadly, his appearance would not make the final cut of the film. The film€™s producers decided that reshoots were needed but unfortunately due to Neeson€™s commitments with Wrath of the Titans, the sequel to Clash of the Titans, he was unavailable to feature. The reason for these reshoots has been seen by some as a consequence of a rushed production while in Thailand. With director Todd Phillips running out of time to find a replacement, he eventually asked Nick Cassavetes, director of the 2004 film The Notebook, to play the role. Cassavetes does an admirable job in the role, providing his character with a bitter wit while providing The Wolfpack with the information they need. Unfortunately, for us, it€™s a shame that we couldn€™t see Neeson in the role and it appears that no footage of his appearance will be released. The Hangover Part 2, while commercially successful, didn€™t charm critics, with the film using the same note for note structure as its predecessor. The final part of the trilogy, The Hangover Part 3 was released in May 2013.
