12 Films That Wasted Incredible Potential
11. Warcraft
Warcraft is a franchise of numerous video games, novels and other media created by Blizzard Entertainment. It is set in the high fantasy world of Azeroth and focuses on the many different races within it, such as humans, orcs, trolls, dwarves and elves. Multiple expansions have led to the Warcraft series standing tall as one of the most popular real-time strategy and MMORPG games of all time.
With such a devoted fan base and a wealth of material to work with, many believed that Warcraft would stand a better chance of succeeding at the box office than most. But despite it becoming the highest grossing video game adaptation of all time, Warcraft would not enjoy the same critical success of its games.
The film had a convoluted plot that was trying to tell the story about how war between humans and orcs began while also trying to weave in elements of Warcraft mythology. This resulted in a lot of exposition that only fans of the series would be able to understand. Casual film audiences would not be able to follow its complex plot and remember it as another promising high fantasy film series that failed to impress.
