12 Films That Wasted Incredible Potential

7. The Last Airbender

Resident Evil The Final Chapter
Paramount Pictures

Avatar: The Last Airbender was a hugely successful tv show on Nickelodeon. Set in an Asiatic world where people can control the elements, water, earth fire or air, the series centred around the journey of the Avatar. As the only person capable of bending all four elements and to enter the spirit world, The Avatar must travel the world with his friends to master all four elements and defeat the evil Fire Nation.

Its popularity and success as an animated kids show led to many wondering if it could be just as successful in a live action version, and it would not be long before they would get their answer. Two years after the show's final episode, a live-action film adaptation was released with M. Night Shyamalan as director.

Casting controversies, promotional blunders, awful special effects and horrible acting caused the film to receive abysmal ratings and killed any chance for more films in the franchise.

Fans of the original series hated it so much that they preferred to block it out of their memory and did all they could to distance the film from the tv show.
