12 Films That Wasted Incredible Potential

6. Jupiter Ascending

Resident Evil The Final Chapter
Warner Bros.

The Wachowski’s have had an interesting career. They were flying high after writing and directing The Matrix Trilogy and the film adaptation of V for Vendetta, both of which earned them massive critical acclaim. But things started to go down hill for them after both the live-action adaptation of Speed Racer and the film adaptation of Cloud Atlas performed terribly at the box office.

Jupiter Ascending was a chance for the Wachowski’s to prove to their doubters wrong, and to be fair, the premise for the film was able to turn some heads. Described as a mix between The Matrix and Star Wars, a young woman discovers that she is a royal descendant of a transhuman race and is at the centre of a major political dispute over ownership of the Earth.

It was a highly ambitious science-fiction epic that sadly failed on multiple levels.

The films over reliance on special effects, horrendous performances from the likes of Mila Kunis and Eddie Redmayne and confusing story made for a dull and boring experience that turned out to be nothing more than another incoherent science fiction film with goofy action sequences and garbage dialogue.
