12 Giant Plot-Holes You Didn’t Notice In 2015’s Biggest Movies

5. The Service Hatch (And Everything Else) - Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation

Despite the fact that it was one of the film's most tense and entertaining sequences, there isn't really a single thing right with the underwater heist scene that sees Ethan infiltrate the supercomputer and then drown only to be saved last minute. Firstly, why is it ok to have a computer underwater? If a normal person so much as sneezes (or similar, aherm) on their keyboard, they have to face an uncomfortable conversation with an Apple genius. But ok, spies - let's leave that one alone. More confusingly, how does Ethan get through the no metal sensors with a computer screen on his arm? What sort of computer chips does he have that don't require metal components. And then when he's rescued by Ilsa, where exactly does she get the defibrillator from? It wouldn't have survived the water, and she doesn't actually have anywhere to keep it. And then of course there's the question of the service shaft? Why would anyone fit a service shaft that is only accessible from the inside, rendering the very idea of a service shaft pointless, since you have to get into the chamber to open it in the first place in order to enter the chamber via it. It's the epitome of frivolous design.
