4. Frida (Frida & Diego)
In many ways the relationship between Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera is your usual biopic relationship played out against the epic backdrop of time, but I have to include it. The passion the two of them have as individuals, as well as the passion they each bring to their relationship, make for great moviegoing. Their combination of passions brings an entertaining energysignature energy from Salma Hayek and Alfred Molina no lessthat creates such great similarities and contrasts while filling the frame with life. Both Hayek and Molina shine brilliantly with performances that both envelope them and remind the audience who they are. All of this works toward creating vast depth to their characters' relationship. In the scenes that take place later in their lives, it feels like it's later in their lives. It feels like infinite emotions are known instinctively to the both of themindeed, the audience has seen them be experienced.
