At the start of 2019, the Frozen franchaise appeared to be declining, as audiences became fed up with its overexposure. As a result, Frozen II did not appear to be high on the list of most anticipated 2019 movies. Then, in the middle of Febuary, this teaser dropped right out of nowhere, breaking viewing records and reigniting interest in Anna and Elsa’s adventures. Most of the teaser focused on a single scene where Elsa tries to use her ice powers to cross an ocean.

This was followed by brief clips of Anna seeing mysterious crystals in the sky and setting off on a journey of her own, Kristoff and Sven leading an entire herd of reindeer into battle, and our leads all observing a mysterious forest.

The main talking point was the more mysterious tone, with moody colours and the ominous music which adds the Vuillie chant from the original Frozen score as it builds. However, this was balanced out by the sheer thrill of watching characters we know and love being stronger and more powerful than ever.

It was particularly impressive to see Elsa, a character often criticised for running away from her problems, run TOWARDS them as she tried to defy the sea itself. The teaser revealed nothing about the story, but it demonstrated that Frozen II was going to be a real epic. Hopefully, the finished film will match the impact of this impressive teaser.
