12 Greatest Lone Wolf Characters In Movies
2. Max Rockatansky (Mad Max)
The Mad Max series is arguably the movie franchise that popularised post-apocalyptic futures in the world of cinema. The wild and ravaged future portrayed in this series is so full of character and fun, and at the centre of it is Max Rockatansky.
The Road Warrior himself was barely recognisable in his first film, as viewers were shown how he behaved before the demise of his friends and family. After the inaugural film's tragic events, the character becomes one of the most well written and presented lone wolves in history.
Max is a man who does his best to survive a cruel existence filled with malicious people, and the best way for him to do that is to walk alone. Although the movies always see him become entangled with others, it is clear that this is out of character for him, and that he is most comfortable taking care of himself.
Both Gibson and Hardy's versions of the character become attached to those around him, but out of a fear of losing them - like he did his family - he abandons them after their goal is achieved, and remains sealed off from others, to protect himself.
