Snake Plissken from the movies Escape from New York and Escape from L.A. is an incredibly badass character, who even went on to become the inspiration for Metal Gear Solid's protagonist Solid Snake.

The Escape movies are based in a crime-filled future United States, with cities turned into prisons and very little hope for humanity. In both films, our protagonist is injected with a life-threatening chemical and given a short amount of time to complete a dangerous mission.

Plissken is played by Kurt Russell and has an incredibly cool character design, with a cobra tattoo on his left arm and an eye patch instantly making him appear threatening. He falls into the lone wolf type very nicely, as although he spends most of the movies working alongside others, he clearly does it for selfish purposes.

With that being said, it is clear that although he prefers to work alone, the character still cares for those he fights alongside. This is evident from the ending of the first movie, where his arc culminates in disdain for the president who seems unconcerned with the people who died for him.
