12 Greatest Monsterverse Movie Moments (So Far)

9. Kong: Skull Island - Attack Of The Skullcrawlers

King Skull Island
Warner Bros.

This sequence is another strong action scene from Kong: Skull Island; the film might've had its issues, but no-one could deny that it delivered some really great set-pieces.

The villains of the film are the Skullcrawler monsters who, despite the film's lousy CGI, are pretty bloody scary, especially since the human characters seem so powerless in the face of them.

So, as it should go without saying, when several of them attack the film's characters in the fog, it makes for one hell of a nail-biter.

It's a thoroughly suspenseful scene that even fits in a couple of effective jump scares and thanks to the overwhelming sense of threat - especially after Bill Randa (John Goodman, who's as excellent as ever), one of the film's best characters, is eaten by one of the creatures - everyone will be on the edge of their seats throughout.

All in all, this is another one of the franchise's best action scenes so far.
