12 Harry Potter Movie Changes That Were Completely Justified
5. Ron Stops Harry Leaving - The Deathly Hallows
In The Book
When Harry, Ron and Hermione are reunited at the Burrow, they're kept busy with preparations for Bill and Fleur's wedding, with Mrs Weasley clearly trying to keep them occupied to delay their departure on their quest. They eventually get together and plan, before the wedding is interrupted by Kingsley Shacklebolt's warning that Voldemort has taken over the Ministry and the trio flee.
In The Film
The wedding preparations go much the same way, but the film adds a scene in which Harry attempts to leave without Ron and Hermione to undertake the quest on his own. Ron discovers him and confronts him with Harry revealing his desire to keep his loved ones safe.
Ron convinces him to stay and let his friends come with him, which gives Ron his hero moment and finally explains why he belongs in Gryffindor. It's also another opportunity to reinforce the core principles of both characters - Harry as the selfless martyr and Ron as his ever-dutiful Samwise-like companion.
