12 Highly-Anticipated Movies That Are Never Getting Made

6. Friday Night Lights

Cult TV show Friday Night Lights - a follow-up to the successful 2004 film of the same name - was never a huge ratings hit despite gaining high critical acclaim and a loyal, vocal fanbase throughout its five-season run. However, it was reported last year that the first film's director and subsequent series creator Peter Berg was looking to get the ball rolling on a second film which would continue exactly where the show left off, should the cast be willing and able to return. Berg later commented that the script was in fact completed, and it was now a case of waiting for the actors' schedules to free up, though for one, Taylor Kitsch said that he has no interest in returning to his role as Tim Riggins. However, looking at the paltry returns on his recent blockbuster features John Carter and Battleship, he might want to rethink that... Although this one hasn't been languishing around studio offices for years and years, the sheer task of getting this large ensemble cast back together sounds incredibly arduous, so I doubt we'll ever see it come to fruition, especially if the other cast members are as non-plussed about it as Mr. Kitsch.
