12 Horror Films That Will Scare You Senseless In 2020
10. Fantasy Island
You have to admire the bods at Blumhouse for getting this project off the ground. Based on the TV show of the same name, which remains something of an oddity itself, the concept is delightfully high concept: folks visit an island where they are granted a wish, but this comes at a price. Cue a whole lot of chaos.
While there's no sign of cult character Tattoo in the movie, Michael Peña is stepping into the shiny shoes of the island's orchestrator of madness, Mr Rourke, in a cast that includes Michael Rooker, Lucy Hale and Maggie Q. Better still, writer/director Jeff Wadlow will be channelling all the twisty turny chaos we saw in Truth Or Dare into a movie that is as much as about the island’s inhabitants unravelling a central mystery, as it is about offing them in the most inspired of ways.
Like Midsommer before it, Fantasy Island will once again remind us that scares can come from the sunniest of settings.
