Taken pretty much from the good old Oxford dictionary, Antebellum is a word that describes the pre-Civil War era, when slavery and plantations were the norm and not a drop of blood had been shed in the name of liberty.

But taken in the context of this intriguing debut from first time helmers Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz, we've got something much more than a period horror movie coming our way.

Through the short teaser and scant plot details that have been released we know the story centres on a mother from the present day - played by Hidden Figures's Janelle Monáe - who gets herself stuck in a creepy past time reality that she has to fathom a way out of.

Taking its cues from Get out and Us the teaser shows a film that will shake the senses, get you thinking and also boasts the contender for 2020's creepiest kid award in the movie's pale girl.
