12 Horror Movie Sets That Were Definitely Cursed

6. The Crow

The production of Alex Proyas’ debut film, revenge fantasy flick The Crow, was beset with problems from the get-go. Just semi-worrying things, you know – a crew member accidentally stabbing himself through the hand with a screwdriver, an electrocution here, a grip truck setting on fire there and a huge storm ripping through the film set.

But the film is best known for the tragic on set death of its star Brandon Lee, killed accidentally when a fragment of a dummy bullet negligently left in a prop gun struck him in the abdomen. Lee was mortally wounded and died the next day at the age of 28.

So far, so random tragedy but The Crow curse takes a spookier turn when you consider the legacy of Lee’s father, actor and martial arts master Bruce Lee. Shortly before he also died at a tragically young age, Bruce starred in a film in which he played a martial arts actor who becomes the victim of attempted murder when a hitman sneaks on set and tries to kill him after swapping a blank for a real bullet during a shootout scene.

If that doesn’t sound suspiciously similar to his son’s real-life death, then you clearly aren’t as paranoid as we are.

Adding fuel to the fire is that, according to movie folklore, Bruce believed that his family was cursed – a curse that apparently followed his son to the set of his breakout movie and took his life before he could become a star in his own right.
