In the end, it's all sex.

Just as there are serious questions about how Hagrid from Harry Potter could even possibly exist - given the logistical concerns involved in a smaller than average human having sex with and impregnating a full-sized, full-blooded giantess. That origin seems to exist to fit Hagrid's comical background, but it doesn't mean people haven't been haunted by the imagery. Well at least one person, anyway.

The same goes for the unspoken question of how a mostly normal donkey (okay, he talks, but he doesn't appear to have any other magical powers beyond waffle-making with no thumbs) can somehow successfully impregnate a dragon. Try imagining the set-up, it's just not possible.

And before anyone says it's because they're fairytale creatures, if someone could point me in the direction of the fairytale that specifically deals with this interspecies wierdness, I'll eat my words. And probably then vomit them back up.
