Box Office: Quantum of Solace ($586 million) and Casino Royale ($599 million)

The James Bond franchise is one of the most prolific and enduring properties in movie history, having spanned over half a century, twenty-four movies and grossing over $7 billion at the box office combined.

Though it's not massively surprising that It has managed to out-gross the earlier Bond movies from several decades prior, the fact that the horror film managed to take on two of Daniel Craig's recent movies is quite an achievement indeed.

Craig's 2006 debut as the spy, the fantastic reboot Casino Royale, was recently pipped by Pennywise, and as such also the 2008 follow-up Quantum of Solace, which fell slightly short of topping Royale's worldwide cume.

With the last two Bond movies proving much more successful (Skyfall cracked $1.1 billion worldwide), it seems unlikely that It will be able to surpass any upcoming Bond outings, but if audiences are on the fence about the inevitable casting change in a few years' time, you never know.
