Matt Reeves' trilogy-capping finale to the Apes reboot franchise is arguably the summer's best blockbuster, a dizzyingly bleak and beautiful spectacle driven by another fantastic performance from Andy Serkis, and a fantastic contribution by effects wizards Weta Digital.

Though it's closing in on the $500 million mark, the film has nevertheless been considered a box office disappointment, opening below expectations and set to fall far short of the previous film's $710.6 million final total.
