12 Huge Movies That IT Destroyed At The Box Office

It's never a good idea to bet against Christopher Nolan at the box office, and though his widely-lauded war film hasn't come close to matching the success of his biggest hits to date (namely the latter two Dark Knight movies), it did recently become the highest-grossing World War II film of all time.

With Nolan's high esteem among film buffs and casuals alike, it wasn't remotely a consideration that It could end up topping Dunkirk at the worldwide box office.

It seems that the horror film likely benefited from the late-teen, early-20s crowd's enthusiasm, which the older demographic slant for Dunkirk simply wasn't able to compensate for. Either way, topping Nolan is always going to be a sure sign of a movie's success.
