7. Who Will Be The Protagonist? - Paranormal Activity 5
Despite the franchise having reached its critical peak and slumping ever since, Paranormal Activity will keep chugging along until it ceases to be profitable. The fourth movie ended with series antagonist Katie re-acquiring her nephew Hunter by taking out his foster family with the help of the strange coven we intermittently meet throughout the movies. The recent spin-off, The Marked Ones, introduced a time travel/sci-fi aspect into the series, which will certainly be interesting, but a more important question remains: who will be the protagonist? If they're not feeling very imaginative, the writers may opt for another generic family living in a huge house, but given how the end-game seems to be pretty focused at this point, the only protagonist that would make sense is Ali Rey, the survivor of the second movie, who also made a brief cameo in The Marked Ones. Seeing her fight to try and rescue Hunter from the coven would be a great way to close the franchise off, though I suspect unless PA5 totally bombs, we're not quite at the end yet.
Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes).
