12 Iconic Movie Characters Who Were Disastrously Recast

In The Original: Michael Biehn

Were it not for Suicide Squad, you could probably quite reasonably have cast off any claims that Jai Courtney can act as fat-out lies. The fact that he's so good as Captain Boomerang - ironically - just makes almost everything that came before it all the more frustrating.

Looking at his Boomerang directly in comparison to his personality-less take on Kyle Reese, for instance, is particularly damning. While Michael Biehn offered a portrayal of the time-travelling hero as a cool, gritty outsider with enough heart to make his romance with Sarah Connor feel true, Courtney is there simply as furniture. He consciously uncools the character horribly.

His Courtney is unbelievable as anything other than a grunt: you can't see why he would have ascended to John Connor's right-hand, or why Sarah Connor would fall for him, or even why he deserved to have the story's heart hung on him, and the result if a fatal void at the film's centre.
