10 Incredible Movies With TERRIBLE Villains
9. Hans - Frozen
Frozen wasn't just a cultural phenomenon but a return to form for Disney. Though the company's animated films had been hit and miss for many years, The House of Mouse had a noticeable resurgence after its release.
Due to the delightful music, solid comedy, relatable story (and extremely merchandisable characters), it's understandable why Frozen took the world by storm. For this reason, it can be almost forgiven for its feeble villain, Hans (Santino Fontana).
Although the Southern Isles prince appears benevolent for most of the run-time, his sinister side is unveiled during the third act. Unfortunately, this forced heel-turn in the last 15 minutes gives Hans little opportunity to leave a lasting impression.
Even though Disney has plenty of generic antagonists like Cruella, Jafar, and Scar, they rarely come across as run-of-the-mill baddies, thanks to their quotable dialogue and the voice-actors' phenomenal performances. Sadly, Fontana doesn't do anything interesting with the role and the character doesn't have a single memorable line.
Also, there's so much focus on Elsa's inner conflict and her complex relationship with her sister, the story could've functioned without a traditional rival (much like the sequel).
