12 Incredibly Successful Movies (That Nobody Likes)
1. The Twilight Saga: New Moon
Gross: $711,020,081
The Twilight Saga: New Moon is not just one of the worst global box office hits of all time. It's one of the worst films ever made.
The books have a huge fan-base and the first Twilight movie was perfectly decent, so this being such a hit isn't exactly surprising but that doesn't make it any less painful.
Since this entire movie consists of endless moping, whining, sighing and Taylor Lautner repeatedly taking his shirt off, every scene is painful to watch. There's no affecting drama, there's almost no action, there's no real romance, there's... nothing. Absolutely nothing.
Add that to the endlessly miserable tone, flat direction, hideously dire script and appalling performances and you've got a film which is basically the equivalent of a Dementor from Harry Potter sucking your soul out.
This is one of those movies where you could write a dissertation micro-analysing how bad every single scene is and that still wouldn't quite offer the catharsis one needs after watching this.
If one ever needed proof that big box office bucks doesn't mean quality, this movie would be a perfect example since, aside from Twi-hards, no-one seems to like it and why on earth would they?
