7. Paul Rudd's Hong Kong Robot Actioner - Gen-Y Cops

While Sean Gunn was starring in Tromeo And Juliet, Paul Rudd landed a part in its far more mainstream DiCaprio-starring competitor. That doesn't mean, though, that Ant-Man is lacking in some pretty weird material of his own from that period in his career.

2000's Gen-Y Cops was a Hong Kong actioner and, logically enough, the sequel to Gen-X Cops (maybe "Millennial Cops" was already taken). Although that title might imply a torch passing to a new generation, Gen-Y Cops actually came out only around a year later and brought back the two of the original four cops who could be bothered to return.

This time hi-jinks ensue when the crew have to deal with a malfunctioning American prototype attack robot, which also means involvement from the FBI and Rudd's Agent Ian Curtis (no relation to the Love Will Tear Us Apart singer). Of course the FBI clash with the Hong Kong renegades, who respond by putting dandruff in the American agents' coffee.

There's also a bit where one of the Gen-whatever cops gets hypnotised and some business with a man dressed as a lobster.

Rudd, sporting a blonde, curly barnet that's the answer to the question of why he's otherwise kept the exact same haircut for the past twenty years, even cracks out his best few words of Cantonese in a "drinks are on me" closing gag typically only seen in parodies of cheesy old network cop shows.

Gen-Y Cops went unreleased stateside for a couple of years until it cropped up on the Sci-Fi Channel in 2002 (right around when Rudd became a regular guest star on Friends) with a "Jackie Chan Presents..." title, even though the martial arts legend had no actual involvement with it.
