12 Insane Movie Details You Definitely Missed

1. Lester Is Constantly Framed In Imagery Resembling A Jail Cell - American Beauty

American Beauty is one of the best films ever made about suburban discontent, and because directing several actors to some of the strongest performances of their respective careers wasn't enough, Sam Mendes decided to include some brilliant visual symbolism to boot.

Throughout the film, there are a number of images which appear to show put-upon protagonist Lester Burnham (Kevin Spacey) framed behind objects which appear to resemble jail cells, representing his own feelings of "imprisonment" within his bougie middle-class bubble.

By far the most impressive of these shots is a reflection of Lester in his computer monitor at work, with lines of code resembling jail cell bars behind which he is trapped.

And given Kevin Spacey's recent legal issues, it's become even more eerie and apt with time.

What do you make of these ludicrous movie details? Did you manage to catch any of them? Shout it out in the comments!
