12 Live-Action Anime Projects You Didn’t Know Were Happening
1. One Piece
Of all the projects discussed so far, this is certainly the one that is furthest along in the development process, as Netflix has given plenty of images, set videos, and casting information. It was even reported that the principal filming on the title had drawn to a close only a short while ago. One Piece live-action is coming, and it's coming soon.
One Piece always felt like one of those projects that wouldn't ever receive a live-action adaptation, mainly because of the wild budget and scope needed to pull it off. The world of Pirates and Rokushiki works perfectly for manga and animation, but in the real world might seem a little too ridiculous.
There has been some noticeable discussion about the budget for this series, revealing that it is in the whopping $10 million per episode mark. That puts it on par with Game of Thrones season six, revealing just how much Netflix is pouring into this.
The truth is, no matter what happens, the world of One Piece is so complex and huge that many fans will likely feel betrayed. So let's hope the show is as fun as it can possibly be in spite of that.
