12 Live-Action Anime Projects You Didn’t Know Were Happening
4. My Hero Academia
If the MCU, DCEU, Sonyverse, Arrowverse, The Boys and the upcoming One Punch Man weren't enough for you, then clear your plate because there's yet another huge superhero project on the horizon ready to fill you up with powers, action and fun.
My Hero is an epic anime set in a world where roughly 80% of the population possesses a superpower (known here as a quirk). You follow the adventures of a quirkless kid named Midoriya as he attempts to become the number 1 hero.
It would be a lie to say there's no potential in this adaptation, as there's a boatload of awesome characters fans would love to see in real life. Still, the series has a very cartoon-like presentation, so creating many of the UA High-schoolers, villains, and pro heroes would be a challenge. How on Earth they will make weirdos like Mineta, Tokoyami or Shoji work is anyone's guess.
The adaptation is being produced by Legendary Pictures, the company behind the MonsterVerse, Dune, Detective Pikachu, and more, meaning there will be some extensive blockbuster experience backing it up. Furthermore, it's being directed by live-action anime expert Shinsuke Sato, the man behind titles like Inuyashiki, Kingdom, Gantz and even Alice In Borderland.
The students of Class 1-A are in good hands, so let's hope they pass the test.
