12 Major Implications Of Spider-Man Joining Marvel's Phase 3

9. ...Or They Need A Mega-Star Casting (Or A Veteran)

The idea of Tony Stark unveiling Spider-Man as his celebrity guest and that being the first time he's seen on screen might not be the most goofy idea suggested so far, but only if Kevin Feige is smart enough to cast someone of sufficient profile to sell the moment. If they could somehow keep the casting secret (and that might be the biggest if ever dropped), Marvel could spin a ridiculous amount of good publicity into the revelation moment on screen. That would be the single biggest achievement of the entire MCU to date, and it would require an A-lister to add some more bang to the reveal. In that case, Spider-Man wouldn't even need to be a young kid as most fantasy castings will suggest: it could be that Spider-Man is presented as a veteran whose secret identity existed long before Iron Man so casually discarded his own. That at least would mean more symbolic poignancy for Stark himself - and not to mention, it could actually open the door for Sony to bring in Tobey Maguire for a cameo, before recasting entirely for their own stand-alone in 2017. Having said that, they might not even go with Peter Parker at all.
