12 Marvel Characters You Didn't Notice Are Already In The MCU

3. The Owl - Daredevil

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness The Living Tribunal
Marvel Comics / Netflix

Before Kingpin became Daredevil's arch-nemesis, the blind superhero regarded Leland Owlsey AKA The Owl as his greatest enemy. Although Wilson Fisk is a master at depicting himself as an esteemed businessman, Owl doesn't attempt to hide his true nature. With his habit of gorging on rats and hacking his minions with his razor-sharp talons and fangs, this crime lord makes it clear everyone knows what a monster he is.

Because of his association with the Man Without Fear, it was no surprise he appears in the Netflix series, Daredevil. And with the character portrayed by Bob Gunton - best-known for his towering performance in The Shawshank Redemption - it looked like Owlsey would play a significant part in the story.

Sadly, Gunton's character is Owlsey in name only. Even though he butts heads with Wilson Fisk (which leads to his death), the larger-than-life aspects of the character were removed. There is no eating rats. No flying powers. No hooting. No rotating his head 180 degrees. Because of this, a lot of people didn't know Gunton was playing The Owl, and instead, thought he was... some guy.
