12 Marvel Characters You Didn't Notice Are Already In The MCU

7. Coldblood - Iron Man 3

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness The Living Tribunal
Marvel Studios / Marvel Comics

In Iron Man 3, Tony Stark finds himself at odds with tech giant, Aldrich Killian, after he uses an unstable regenerative treatment called Extremis to turn people into living weapons. While Tony tries to uncover details about this experimental weapon, he's attacked by Killian's Extremis-powered henchman, Eric Savin. Because Savin seems to be nothing more than a grunt, most viewers don't give the character a second thought.

But if you really, really, really (deep breath), really know your comics, you may have recognised this guy is an obscure Marvel villain called Coldblood. Debuting in Marvel Comics Presents #26 in 1989, Coldblood was a soldier who was killed by a land mine. After being brought back to life with cybernetic implants, he became a hired gun for corrupt corporations, especially Roxxon.

Even if you're familiar with the character, you probably didn't recognised him in the film, since Coldblood has no relationship with Iron Man in the comics whatsoever. Instead, he usually battles Deathlok the Demolisher or Mako, who's the man who made Savin what he is.

And since the live-action version of the character has no cybernetics, it makes you wonder why the writers called him Savin in the first place.
