Proof that not everything from The Incredible Hulk has been forgotten though, William Hurt will be reprising his role as General Ross in Captain America: Civil War. He's seemingly given up hunting down his daughter's ex and is now taking on all superheroes, pushing through the friendship-destroying Sokovia Accords. Of course, his return is being read as more than just a minor antagonist role by some - in the comics Thunderbolt Ross famously becomes the Red Hulk, and it's expected that Hurt returning here is setting the scene for that character to be introduced down the line. Now if it is, then a teasing piece of foreshadowing would be almost unavoidable. While you could go big and reference him trying to find new ways to tackle the Hulk or have him quote the "don't make me angry" line, there's ample opportunity to go more obscure - like how J.A.R.V.I.S.'s stocking in Iron Man 3 was made up of Vision's colours. Heck, even if he is just being brought back so the Accords have a somewhat familiar face behind them, Marvel would be remiss to not put in some nod towards his fuming alter ego.
