12 Massive Changes In Comic Book Movies From The Source Material

12. Ghost Rider's Villains

BlackheartBentley A very general one here, because each of the villains in the two Ghost Rider movies were very, very different to their comic book counterparts. The Ghost Rider movies haven't been overly impressive to say the least and the biggest change from the comics is the depictions of said evil characters. Blackheart, in particular, was unrecognisable from his comic book counterpart. Wes Bentley didn't convince as a villain €“ he just isn't intimidating enough €“ especially one that is usually so terrifying, but the attributes of the character were completely different to the source material. In the comics, Blackheart is a massively powerful demon who looks like a demon should look €“ monstrous. In the film, he looks like an emo teenager. Plus, in the comics, Blackheart can warp the very reality around him, he has telekinetic and telepathic abilities, the ability to manipulate vast amounts of dark magic and superhuman physical attributes. In the movie, he pokes you with his finger and shrivels you up. In the sequel, Blackout was the main villain and he was also significantly changed from his comic book version. He was Ray Carrigan, a mercenary, drug dealer and gun runner who was turned into Blackout by the devil in order to pose a threat to Ghost Rider. Essentially, he was a human with the borrowed power of enhanced physical abilities and a death touch which sapped the life out of anyone or anything he came in to contact with. In the comics, he was a half-demon with superhuman strength, speed, durability and reflexes and the psionic ability to extinguish light in his vicinity. His teeth and fingernails were replaced with mechanical prosthetics.
