12 Massive Changes In Comic Book Movies From The Source Material

11. Catwoman Having Actual Cat Abilities

Halle-Berry-Catwoman-3 It goes without saying that this movie was only ever meant to be Catwoman in name - and, as a result, it was absolutely horrific - but it's worth pointing out the differences between Halle Berry's interpretation of the character and the comic book version just as a talking point. In the film, Catwoman is artist and graphic designer Patience Phillips. When Patience discovers the dangerous side-effects of a product being sold to reverse the effects of ageing, the minions of the owner responsible for the product are ordered to kill her and they do - by drowning her. Lying washed up on the shore and lifeless, Patience is mysteriously brought back to life by an Egyptian Mau cat and, from that point onwards, develops cat-like abilities and an insatiable desire for vengeance. In the comics, she is simply Selina Kyle - a cat burglar with peak human gymnastic and athletic abilities and fighting skills. There is no "cat-like abilities" nonsense. She wields an array of cat-themed weapons, such as razor-sharp retractable claws and a cat 'o nine tails and relates to cats on an emotional level, but that's where the connection stops.
