12 The Matrix Easter Eggs You Probably Missed

2. The Nebuchadnezzar's Registration Number Relates To A Verse From The Bible

The Matrix is a movie in which references to ancient mythology and religion plays an important part - it is the archetypal hero's journey concerning the path to illumination, and as such these references are all but inevitable. The Bible plays a strong role in The Matrix - the character names Trinity and Cypher being two obvious examples - and the vessel which carries the crew in the real world, the Nebuchadnezzar, references the king of the Neo-Babylonian empire referenced in the Old Testament. The Biblical references go one step further for those with keen eyes - on the plate of the ship's registration it reads "Mark III no. 11". This references a verse in the Bible which fully relates to the story of The Matrix, reading "And whenever the unclean spirits beheld him, they fell down before him and cried out, 'You are the Son of God.'" More than fitting, given the path that Neo has embarked upon.
