What are HYDRA up to in a post-Thanos world? Little to no mention has been made of the nefarious organisation outside of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D since Age Of Ultron.

They are still operational, evidenced by the inclusion of one of their members, Mitchell Carson, in Ant-Man. Alongside a representative of the Ten Rings terrorist organisation, he served as one of the potential buyers for Darren Cross’ Yellowjacket technology and made off with a briefcase full of Pym Particles in the film’s conclusion.

Director Peyton Reed has revealed in interviews that the film’s original ending saw Carson apprehended, but this was cut, meaning that somewhere out there is a S.H.I.E.L.D turncoat in possession of technology that we now know can be used to traverse time. Given that part of Endgame’s plot revolved around the limited availability of Pym Particles,, it stands out as a considerable loose end, with not even a throwaway comment used to tie it up.

Unless his non-use of the Particles is going to form part of the plot of Ant-Man 3, Carson seems destined to remain a small plot hole given his status as a very minor character overall.
