10. Animal Mother: Full Metal Jacket

I mainly took two things away from watching Full Metal Jacket. The first was that I am happy to not be in the Marine Corps. The second was why doesn't Adam Baldwin make more action movies? The dude has the look and the attitude of all great action stars in his role, but nothing he has done since has quite reached the intensity. Animal Mother, like his name suggests in the film, is just plain vicious. Not only is he likely to kill one of his own men as quickly as the enemy, but he may also enjoy it. Like Steve McQueen's character from Hell is For Heroes, for Animal Mother killing is no longer part of the job, but has become a way of life. He is the first, but not the last example of why the war in Vietnam was horrible. If you think guys like Animal Mother are just figments of fiction than just spend a day or so researching accounts of the war. In real life sharing a fox hole with this guy was way worse.
