12 Missing Trailer Scenes From Superhero Movies That Would Have Been Awesome

The Scene: After Tony asks for a good luck kiss, Pepper kisses his helmet instead and throws it off a plane. He jumps out after it while yelling back “you complete me!” (0:34)

Why It Would Have Been Awesome: Rather than starting off the film with a meaningful character moment that’s punctuated with a thrill as Tony leaps off a moving plane, we instead got a fully suited-up Iron Man by himself simply flying out of the plane.

It’s a shame because this little moment is emblematic of their relationship as a whole: Pepper wrestling control from Tony without much of a fight while he lackadaisically jumps into his new role as a superhero.

Unfortunately, director Jon Favreau thought it would be a better reveal for Tony to unmask for the first time in front of the Stark Expo crowd rather than to start off unmasked. He may be right but that shouldn’t have come at the cost of developing his relationship with Pepper. Instead, the absence of this scene was symptomatic of the film as a whole, which largely tiptoed around their relationship rather than embrace it.
