The Scenes: In the first scene, we have Peter and Harry wonder aloud about Oscorp’s files on Peter, to which Harry responds, “isn’t that the question of the day?” That’s complemented by another scene where a bed-ridden Norman Osborn proclaims “we have plans for you, Peter Parker.” (0:41 and 1:07)

Why They Would Have Been Awesome: Although it’s almost incomprehensible to argue in favour of beefing up one of the film’s numerous subplots, it seemed that the Osborns offered the most to the fans and the story. They’re not just two of Spider-Man’s biggest villains, but two of his most important supporting characters, so the fact that they take a backseat to the death of Peter’s parents is fairly unforgivable.

It’s clear that a lot got cut from Dane DeHaan’s role and his deliciously inviting question to Peter reminds us how good his performance could have been.

Similarly, Chris Cooper’s role was little more than a cameo. Considering the notoriety of the actor and the character, it was beyond disappointing for him to show up for one scene and then die, even if the sequels had plans to revive him. This one line of dialogue wouldn’t have meant anything more than an extended scene but in a movie so terrible, a little more Cooper/Osborn could have gone a long way.
