12 Mistakes Marvel Needs To Avoid For Phase Three

5. Audience Fatigue Due To A Lack Of Innovation

The Mistake: There's no denying that the MCU is a bold creative enterprise, and 2012's The Avengers in particular was a ground-breaking work of cinema which changed things forever. However, Age Of Ultron proved just how difficult it can be to change the formula up and keep things interesting, because as fun and entertaining as it was, it just lacked the same fresh feeling of the original movie. The movie's core formula pretty much followed what came before, which while not a fatal flaw per se, might be troublesome later down the line. Why It Could Ruin Phase Three: Because if Marvel just sticks to the winning formula, it's going to feel pretty diluted by the time Phase Three nears its end. Audiences may eventually feel fatigue from both superhero movies and the MCU as a whole without a substantial change-up, and the box office grosses may eventually start going south. Hopefully the Russo Brothers writing Infinity War in particular will make it feel less like just another Joss Whedon movie, which can only be a good thing if the franchise wants to mature and evolve over time. As for the standalone movies and sequels, they really need to boast personality above all else, which Guardians Of The Galaxy in particular has done so well.
