The Confusing Moment:

When Indiana Jones is taken prisoner and put under the Black Sleep Of Kali, Short Round somehow miraculously knows that the only way to get him out of his trance is to wave his flaming torch at him. That's some incredible foresight, given we don't see Short Round receive any of the necessary information to enact this plan, and can only assume he was legitimately trying to burn Indy.

The Deleted Scene:

There was actually a deleted scene set during Short Round's imprisonment, when he witnessed a Thuggee guard set aflame when a fissure spurts lava up out of the ground and is freed from the Black Sleep. So, that's how the resourceful little tyke worked it out.

Though there's no actual footage of this deleted scene, it definitely existed for a while, and a single shot exists showing the guard on fire.
