12 More Movie Endings That Trolled Audiences
4. Easy Rider
A bleak road movie from 1969, Easy Rider saw Peter
Fonda and Dennis Hopper play a pair of burnt out drifters who took an iconic,
if ill-fated, road trip across the depressing landscape of the late sixties US.
Following the duo through violent scrapes in small towns, small time drug
deals, and a hopeless encounter with a bedraggled Jack Nicholson, the flick
featured few moments of levity outside of the occasional drug binges and sexual
escapades—if you could call those scenes light-hearted.
Then comes the troll of an ending, wherein a passing motorist just out and out murders one of the pair of protagonists unprompted—only to double back and off the other seconds later when he tries to save his dying mate.
Allegory? Probably. Painfully pointless? Definitely.
