12 Most Brutal Acts Of Revenge In Movies
6. Torture - Law Abiding Citizen
Law Abiding Citizen is a brutal reminder of how the most twisted of acts can turn a good man sour.
After his wife and daughter are brutally murdered during a home invasion, Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler) sees the judicial fail to bring justice to the culprits, striking a deal with one perpetrator to ensure the death sentence is given to the other. Clyde believes both are equally deserving of the death penalty, and so spends the better part of a decade to become a master tactician to exact his revenge.
Though the film is predominantly a battle of wits between Clyde and big-shot prosecutor Nick Rice (Jamie Foxx), the scene where Clyde finally gets his hands on the man responsible for murdering his family is sickening, albeit justified.
Pinning the perpetrator onto an operating table Clyde, instead of delivering a swift death, keeps his prey alive long enough to be aware of his mutilation. A mirror suspended over the table, the victim has the best seat in the house to witness his torture.
Police arrive at the scene shortly after, entering an abandoned warehouse decorated with blood, limbs and power tools. Though not explicitly shown, suffice to say Clyde got his revenge.
